The Tickle Swim for Mental Health

The Tickle Swim for Mental Health is back, with the 2026 swim taking place on Saturday, August 22.
Each year, swimmers take on the 5-kilometre open ocean crossing between Portugal Cove–St. Philip’s and Bell Island in support of mental health awareness and programs across Newfoundland and Labrador. What began as a bold challenge has grown into a powerful community movement dedicated to reducing stigma and supporting mental wellness in our province.
Funds raised through the Tickle Swim support the work of the Canadian Mental Health Association in Newfoundland and Labrador (CMHA-NL), helping deliver programs, advocacy, education, and resources that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Whether you’re an experienced open water swimmer, a certified Paddle Canada kayaker, volunteering, donating, or cheering from shore, there’s a place for everyone in the Tickle Swim community.
Mental health affects us all, and every registration, donation, and conversation helps move us toward a more supportive and understanding community.
We’re excited to welcome returning swimmers and first-time participants alike as we prepare for another unforgettable crossing this August.
