Masters & Methods: The Three Pillars of Strength Kettlebell Clinic
Join Darius Gilbert and Marty Gallagher for an intensive, two-day kettlebell seminar on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th. This clinic is designed to delve into the art and science of Absolute, Explosive, and Sustained Strength.
You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the methodologies, techniques, tactics, subtleties, and nuances related to these three distinct strength types:
- Absolute Strength: Discover brute strength and raw power, including isometric and isotonic strength.
- Explosive Strength: Learn usable athletic strength exemplified by explosiveness.
- Sustained Strength: Master strength exerted at high levels for extended periods.
Itinerary
Saturday, August 23rd
- 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Introductory remarks and overview.
- 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Absolute Strength Workshop. This hands-on session will cover signature techniques, full and extended range of motion, rep speed modulation, isometric and isotonic training, "Iron Yoga," the core four, pre-stretch and uber-contractions, pauses, 2-phase breathing, and periodization.
- 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Programming discussion, "brain train" concepts, and juggling frequency, duration, and intensity.
- 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Rest and shower at the hotel.
- 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Dinner and discussions.
Sunday, August 24th
- 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Catoctin Mountain sustained strength cardio workout.
- 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Explosive Strength Workshop. Develop explosive strength in four dimensions, including hill drills, sprint techniques, signature explosive strength drills, the concept of rested effort in running, multi-directional explosiveness, and understanding overdoing/underdoing.
- 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Summation, recapitulation, clarifications, and programming queries.
- 12:00 PM: Lunch at the diner (concludes by 1:00 PM).
This is an immersive, hands-on workshop environment that prioritizes quality of instruction over volume. Participation is limited to ensure a high-quality experience, and several high-level assistant coaches will be in attendance to provide personalized guidance.
