“Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally woke teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.” -The New York Times
The play is the story of four white, good meaning theater artists who attempt to write a play for children dealing with the true story of Thanksgiving in a sensitive and caring way. A grant has been procured to do the play with a Native American actress; unfortunately the actress selected is not indigenous. They forge ahead, and fail miserably to achieve their goal, with hilarious results. Interspersed in the play are four interludes which examine the actual horrible legacy of Thanksgiving pageants, and the true history of the holiday in our nation's history.
