Norman Cornish is renowned as a leading British artist of the 20th Century.Born in 1919, he became a miner aged 14 and worked down the pits until he retired in 1966. He joined the Spennymoor Settlement in 1934 where he developed his drawing and painting. His depictions of miners and mining communities are revered as some of the most powerful and evocative images of life in the Durham Coalfield ever produced.
People's Bookshop is delighted to welcome Mike and Ann Thornton (nee Cornish) for a lecture based on their book about Norman Cornish entitled The Test of Time.
Tickets cost £5, which may be applied to the cost of the book on the night. (The ticket price also includes drinks and nibbles.)
As always, the doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start and the event ends at about 9ish.
