Director Anthony Minghella adapts Patricia Highsmith's novel into a sumptuous psychological thriller that's as much character study as suspense film. The 1999 production is visually stunning—John Seale's cinematography captures the Italian Riviera in golden-hour perfection, while Roy Walker's production design immerses viewers in '50s La Dolce Vita glamour. Matt Damon delivers a chilling performance as Tom, making him simultaneously sympathetic and monstrous, while Jude Law embodies careless privilege with magnetic charisma.
