The Supported Fourth is a practical, supportive class for expecting families preparing for life at home with a newborn. Designed as a complement to childbirth education, this workshop looks beyond birth to the realities of postpartum recovery, normal newborn behavior, soothing techniques, and the kind of support that helps families feel more confident in the fourth trimester.Led by Shawna Slaughter, RN, founder of The Gentle Fourth, this class blends evidence-based education with a calm, compassionate approach. With more than 28 years of experience in Labor & Delivery and Pediatrics, Shawna creates a space where parents can ask honest questions, learn what’s truly normal, and feel more prepared for the early weeks at home.
Families will leave with practical tools, greater confidence, and the reassurance that the fourth trimester was never meant to be navigated alone.
