The Storytellers is a prominent Southern California-based progressive bluegrass band who have established themselves as a creative force in the Roots music scene. They draw from the rich canon of traditional bluegrass, country blues, old time and folk music as a basis for inspired improvisations and intrepid vocal harmonies. The band brings soulful and joyful harmonies, soaring grooves, and their own hippie, bluegrassy vibe to every live show and stage they stand on.
“This outfit is as steeped in values of the past as they are keen on keeping things fresh for today’s listening ear.”
~ The Bluegrass Standard
“The Storytellers seeks to bridge the gap between the traditional bluegrass and jamgrass worlds and have become known for their grassy covers of Grateful Dead songs.”
~ Bluegrass Today
“Sweet, ear-candy harmonies and flowing jams.”
~ The Sheet (Eastern Sierra)
“LA’s The Storytellers are sending a message loud and clear – bluegrass is not dead.”
~ Arroyo Monthly (Pasadena)
“This ‘jamgrass’ band moves seamlessly through traditional and progressive approaches. One tune echos Doc Watson, the next, Jerry Garcia. They find great joy in bluegrass music that is evident in their performances.”
~ LA Weekly
“The Storytellers strives to get all the wheels turning and pistons firing, whether they be intellectual or emotional.”
