The story of Dance Base

"Dancing alone or together generates joy. It releases endorphins, and makes our bodies and minds happier. The desire to share this sense of joy was the driving force behind the creation of our national centre for dance.
Dance Base re-located from the Assembly Rooms in George Street to the custom built studios in the Old Town of Edinburgh in 2001 with unique design crafted by award winning architect Malcolm Fraser.
Dance Base is a beautiful place, made more so by the positive energy generated there every day and night. It has grown to be recognised internationally as the focal point for dance of all kinds, for professionals, our children, our friends, our families, ourselves.
I will share the story of the people who grew Dance Base from a dance class in the attic of the Kings Theatre to a world class centre right here in the capital."
