Come join PNW "Comedy Music" All-Stars THE SQUIRRELS in our first official public appearance since 2019 as we celebrate the release of our all-new 5 song studio CD, "42"! That's right, folks. The Fabulous Squirrels Group are officially BACK, and boy howdy, are we prepared to show ya'll a good time, with a rockin' and hilarious new EP, a new show with a bunch of new songs, and a slightly revised line-up! The crew for this round includes founding member Rob "Capt." Morgan (lead vocals, kazoo, slide whistle), longtime members Jimmy Thomas (guitar, vocals) and Bruce Laven (keyboards, vocals), Bill Ray, who joined the band in 2017 (drums), and returning "Old Age" era bassist Matt Fox (bass, guitar, vocals). Plus special appearances from Mary K (Slinky) and Ed Viars, the man responsible for the swell cover "42" art (bass, guitar). THIS is gonna ROCK. Or... something. Ya'll ready for this? Adding to the festivities will be a brief opening set from singer/songwriter/swell guy Gavin Guss of "TubeTop" fame, who will be kicking things off in his own inimitable style. Glad to have him onboard- this is gonna be one fun afternoon!
About the event:
Sunday, Feb. 1st- 3 to 6 PM. 21 plus with ID. Cover- $10.00 at the door.
An early show on a Sunday afternoon to make it easier on all of you old farts that may actually REMEMBER the band, the gang are hoping for more of a "party" vibe than a "bunch of loud bands in a bar" vibe. This event will serve as both a belated "40th Anniversary" show, as well as hopefully the launching pad for a whole new Squirrels era. Still kicking ideas around. As of right now, it'll go something like this-
3:00 PM- Doors open. Ten dollar cover, 21 and over.
3:15- "42" CD world debut, played loud, through the PA!
3:45- Gavin Guss
4:20(ish)- The return of THE SQUIRRELS
5:30(ish)- "42" through the PA, one more time, then BEAT IT! There's a Jazz Night at 7:00, dang it!
Anyway, that's loosely the plan, as of now. We'll keep ya posted as we go. Oh, and wear your Squirrels shirt from back in the day! Fly that Freak Flag proudly, actual "weirdos". (Got a goofy idea for the event? Let us know! Let's have some actual FUN, shall we?)
And YES, the new CD- which includes 5 brand new studio tracks- will be available to purchase for $10.00, while they last (and hopefully maybe a new t-shirt as well). There will only be 200 CDs made, and only 100 of those are being brought to the show (the other 100 go to the band, hardcore fans out of state, future shows (if there are any left), and of course a few copies for promos and/or the vault). So, yeah- you snooze, you lose! You have been warned! And one copy per person, maybe two, please, at least until we know that everyone that actually shows up and wants one is covered. OK? Assuming that anybody does show up. We really have no idea how this is gonna go. We WILL be posting the new EP up as a free download/stream on JT's website as usual, so you'll get to hear it, no matter what. These CDs are pretty just for the lifers and physical media junkies that actually want to hold an actual Squirrels product in their hands again and add it to their collections. Like us, for instance. It's been a long time. We're really looking forward to it! Anyway, yeah... this is gonna be a HOOT!
As for the Squirrels set, we will be performing one set only, consisting largely of all new material. "How long will the set be?", you ask? Who knows! Starting from scratch with a new show, it all depends on how many songs we come up with by then! But we're don't seem too worried about it. We will entertain the masses, come Hell or high water. Hell, it's what we DO. 😉
