In 1930s Austria, Maria, a young woman training to become a nun, is sent to work as a governess for the seven children of Captain Georg Von Trapp. The household is run with strict discipline, but Maria’s warmth and love of music soon bring joy and connection back into their lives.
As Maria grows closer to the family, she and the Captain begin to develop feelings for one another. Against the backdrop of political unrest and the rise of Nazi control, the family must make difficult choices about their future and where they truly belong.
