The Smashes - Australia verses England Jousting Tournament

Get ready for the ultimate extreme sport! Armoured knights from Australia and England are descending on Kryal Castle this March to battle it out in a legendary jousting tournament – The Smashes.

This epic Australia verses England clash will be held at Ballarat’s Kryal Castle on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March.

Feel the power of bone-rattling impacts from 3.5-meter wooden lances as jousters on horseback charge at speeds of up to 40km/h all in full armour weighing 50kg - exactly how it was in the Middle Ages.

The action doesn’t stop at the jousting arena - prepare to immerse yourself in a full medieval adventure for the whole family with:

• Authentic medieval merchants offering everything from handcrafted garments to sparkling jewels;
• Demonstrations by blacksmiths carpenters and other craftsmen as they bring historic skills to life;
• Birds of prey in full flight;
• An English-themed pub offering mead English Ale and traditional food;
• A medieval feast in the evening taking place at 6pm (tickets for The Smashes Feast need to be purchased separately);

Kryal Castle’s gates will be open from 10am to 4pm with The Smashes Jousting Tournament taking place at 11am and 2pm on both days.
