THE SILENT KILLER
About this Event
Stroke can happen suddenly, changing the lives of individuals and their families in a matter of moments. Yet many people remain unaware of the warning signs, the importance of acting quickly or the realities of life after a stroke.
THE SILENT KILLET: A Stroke Awareness Conversation dedicated to raising awareness, sharing lived experiences and encouraging more open conversations about stroke prevention, emergency response and recovery.
At the centre of the event is Temi Edun, whose memoir, Unmerited Grace, tells the deeply personal story of her stroke and recovery. Told through multiple perspectives, the book also reflects the experiences of the family members and loved ones who supported her through the crisis.
During the event, Temi will share insights from her journey, including the emotional and physical impact of stroke, the importance of family support and the resilience required throughout recovery.
The conversation will also provide practical information to help attendees:
- Recognise the common warning signs of a stroke
- Understand why every minute matters during a stroke emergency
- Learn how families can respond and provide support
- Better understand the realities of rehabilitation and recovery
- Consider practical steps that may help reduce stroke risk
- Hear directly from someone who has experienced and survived a stroke
The discussion will be followed by an audience question-and-answer session, giving stroke survivors, families and caregivers an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and connect with others.
