In this behind-the-scenes class, we’ll pull back the curtain on the extras: additives, preservatives, solvents, and essential oils, that make or break your herbal medicine. You’ll learn how to keep your creations shelf-stable without resorting to sketchy ingredients, when to use alcohol, vinegar, glycerin, or oil (and why it matters), and how to make informed choices about popular add-ins like emulsifiers, humectants, and essential oils.
We’ll also make phytochemistry fun: yes, really ! So you understand how your herbs interact with the stuff you add to them. This is the class that helps you move from DIY dabbler to confident creator, with safer, smarter, and more effective herbal products. Students will take home recipes, handouts, and a sample of a well-crafted product we make together in class.
