Bio
Professor David Dempsey is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Canterbury whose research focuses on geothermal systems, carbon dioxide removal and human-triggered earthquakes. After studying at the University of Otago and the University of Auckland, he held research positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Stanford University. Throughout his career, he has used computer models to tackle complex problems in energy and hazard geoscience, although these days he mostly directs AI agents to do it on his behalf.
