This exciting event will take place on January 11, 2025, at scenic Pickrell Park in Schertz, TX. Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or a brave soul ready to take the plunge, this event is perfect for everyone in the community.At the Y, we’re committed to fostering a community dedicated to healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. By participating in this event, you’re not just challenging yourself physically—you’re also contributing to a
greater cause. Proceeds from the Polar Bear 5K & Plunge will benefit the Schertz Family YMCA scholarship program and community initiatives, helping us continue to provide financial support to youth, families, and individuals in need. Your participation ensures that everyone has access to the Y’s resources and programs, regardless of financial barriers.
This timed 5K race will take participants through the scenic trail of Pickrell Park. Competitive runners will kick off the event, followed by walkers and those with strollers. Whether you’re sprinting for a personal best or enjoying a leisurely stroll with family and friends, every step you take helps support our mission.
After the race, join us for the Polar Bear Plunge, where the bravest among us will take a dip in the chilly waters! Stick around for hot cocoa, warm fire pits and the 5K award ceremony. It’s the perfect way to celebrate your achievement!
All 5k participants will receive a commemorative moisture-wicking event t-shirt and a participation medal. If you are participating in the Polar Bear Plunge ONLY, you will receive a commemorative Polar Bear Plunge cotton t-Shirt!
To guarantee your t-shirt and medal, be sure to register by December 15, 2024. The event will take place rain or shine—so come prepared for whatever weather Texas has in store!
