THE SANFORD NATIONAL PARK RIDE! π²ποΈ

In 1872, the United States did something pretty remarkable.
It set aside Yellowstone as a public park, protecting its incredible landscapes and natural wonders for the enjoyment of the people. That idea eventually grew into Americaβs National Park System, and in 1916 the National Park Service was created to help preserve these special places while keeping them available for future generations.
Today, Americaβs national parks include some of the most spectacular places on Earth: Yellowstone. Yosemite. Grand Canyon. Zion. Great Smoky Mountains. Everglades. Glacier. πΊπΈπ²ποΈ
Thereβs just one small problemβ¦
Sanford doesnβt have one. π
In fact, the closest actual National Park to us is Biscayne National Park in South Florida, roughly 240β250 miles away by road.
That seems like a little much for a Monday night bike ride.
So weβre making do with what weβve got.
Welcome to theβ¦
ποΈπ² SANFORD NATIONAL PARK RIDE! π²ποΈ
Instead of crossing the country in search of Americaβs great national parks, weβre going to explore some of Sanfordβs great municipal parks right here in our own backyard.
We may or may not visit:
π³ Fort Mellon Park
π³ Centennial Park
π³ Park on Park
π³ Coastline Park
π³ George Starke Park
π³ Paw Park
At each stop, weβll admire the natural beauty, inspect the amenities and contemplate setting up camp for the night.
Actuallyβ¦
Scratch the tents. Weβre not setting up tents. π
Weβll keep moving.
Weβll also be on the lookout for local wildlife.
π» Please DO NOT feed the bears.
Mostly because there probably wonβt be any bears.
πΏοΈ We may have to settle for squirrels.
This will be a fun, casual, leisurely ride through Sanford, visiting some parks, getting outside, breathing some fresh air and experiencing the majestic wilderness ofβ¦
β¦municipally maintained Seminole County. π
No mountain passes.
No geysers.
No buffalo herds.
No entrance fee.
Just bikes, parks, friends and another slightly ridiculous Sanford Bicycle Club adventure.
π IMPORTANT: It will be dark during the ride, so a working HEADLIGHT and TAILLIGHT are required. Please make sure both are charged and ready before we roll.
π² Fun. Casual. Social. Sometimes a little weird.
