The Chocolate Church Arts Center welcomes The Rumble to Bath on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 7:30 PM for an evening of music rooted in the living traditions of New Orleans. Led by Big Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. of the Young Eagles Black Masking Indian tribe, The Rumble draws inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indian culture of New Orleans. The group takes its name from the “rumble,” the deep, driving backline rhythm that announces the approach of Black Masking Indians during Mardi Gras celebrations. Their performances highlight this rhythmic foundation while bringing audiences into the call-and-response traditions that are central to the culture.
The band features Aurélien Barnes (trumpet/percussion), José Maize Jr. (trombone), TJ Norris (bass), Ari Teitel (guitar), Andriu Yanovski (keys), and Trenton O’Neal (drums). Together, they blend funk, brass band, gospel, jazz, and hip-hop influences into a cohesive and energetic sound. Their approach balances respect for tradition with original material that reflects the evolving spirit of New Orleans music. The Rumble’s work builds on the legacy of influential New Orleans artists including The Meters, The Wild Magnolias, and The Neville Brothers. The band has received two GRAMMY nominations for Best Regional Roots Album for their debut Live at the Maple Leaf and their studio release Stories From The Battlefield in 2024 and 2025.
Audiences can expect an engaging, rhythm-driven performance that brings the spirit of New Orleans to life on stage. Whether you are longtime fans of the city’s musical traditions or discovering them for the first time, this concert offers a welcoming and memorable way to experience a rich cultural legacy in an intimate and historic setting.
Tickets and additional information are available through the Chocolate Church Arts Center website.
