About this Event
Cody Lukasik joins us to discuss the role and purpose of pediatric occupational therapy as it relates to the home and school setting. With an emphasis of understanding sensory systems and creating an environment that supports a child's sensory needs, and how the sensory systems can impact emotional regulation. Cody will discuss common questions about what OT's mean by a "sensory diet", and tips for identifying and supporting sensory seekers or sensory avoiders. In addition, we will explore strategies that can support kids who may experience strong feelings, and ways to express and articulate what their sensory system needs. Cody will discuss key concepts of the Interoception Curriculum for identifying sensory hardships, and how these can relate to common social emotional programs like Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking, or "How does your engine run."
