About this Event
Join us at Town Square University Parkway for “The Role of Medications in Dementia Care,” a 1-hour course presented by Catherine McDermott, PMHNP. This insightful session will explore how medications are used to manage symptoms and behaviors associated with dementia, including their benefits, risks, and ethical considerations. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of common Medic*tion categories—such as cognitive enhancers, antidepressants, and antipsychotics—and learn how to balance pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to care. Catherine will also provide practical guidance on communicating effectively with prescribers, monitoring side effects, and advocating for the best outcomes for individuals living with dementia. This educational session offers valuable knowledge for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and anyone supporting a loved one through the dementia journey.
