Last Sunday we continued with episode 2 of our new sermon series entitled Spiritual Discipline to Build Community. We learned that believers in Christ should model their discipline on the example Jesus set. Jesus consistently made time to practice: THE DISCIPLINE OF SOLITUDE.
During the message, we learned that Solitude means creating an inner silence that allows us to hear God’s voice. And we must be able to connect with God and hear God’s voice so we can successfully complete God’s Mission for our life! However, when we seek to fulfill God’s mission, we will no doubt encounter Mayhem! That mayhem can occur before, during, or after we have entered the place of solitude with God. Lastly, we can experience the greatest Moments in our lives when we make time for
Solitude! Jesus began ministry, successfully battled temptation, and willingly chose the cross, all as a result of His Solitude with God.
Looking ahead to this Sunday, we will continue with episode 3 of our Spiritual Discipline Series. In this 3rd installment we will deal with:
The Discipline of Service: The Towel
Sports teams have nicknames and symbols, countries have flags and symbols, and some families even have a crest with symbols. Every group has something that identifies them to the world. When we think about Christians fulfilling the call to serve and not to be served, there is only one symbol that captures that theme perfectly: the towel. If you want to learn more about Jesus’ towel and what it means regarding Service, then come join us this Sunday!
