Learn about bungalow architecture and how the design reflects shifting societal values in the early 1900s, inspired in part by Jane Addams' Hull-House reformers and Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie School.Meet at the Skokie Heritage Museum (8031 Floral Ave.) at 3 p.m. on Sun., October 19 for an in-depth guided tour of bungalow architecture, design, and history around the Lorel Park area.
This will be a casually paced walk with frequent stops to look at building exteriors. The tour will last about 1.5 hours. The route is about a mile long and there are not many public benches along the paths. Children under 10 are free with paid adults. Tickets are $15 per person. Walk-ins are welcome as unreserved space permits. Walks will take place in light rain. In the event of more severe weather, we may provide an indoor equivalent at the Skokie Heritage Museum or reschedule.
