UTC+01:00Location
Riverside Theatre, Ulster University, Co. Londonderry, BT52 1SA Coleraine, United Kingdom | Coleraine, NI
The big-time property developers are in town proposing the demolition of the theatre to replace it with a new luxury riverfront apartment complex. That is … until the local community highlight the Lisnabulrevey Rath Act, that makes it an offence to carry out any unauthorised works on a site that displays evidence of otherworldly phenomena.
Enter … The Soothsayer … breaking down the invisible wall between our world and the next and inviting audiences on an ethereal walking tour of the theatre to summons spirits from the after-life and experience supernatural wonders aplenty.
Writer and Director Kat Woods explains;
‘I wanted to create a spooky theatrical experience that the entire family can enjoy, using the beautiful landscape around the Riverside Theatre from the river Bann to the legend of Cushy Glen. Making the make believe feel real as the audience travel through the theatre space indulging in a unique look at behind the scenes of a busy theatre environment prepping for Macbeth. Tradition would have it that we always leave a light on in the theatre, some say for safety others believe it's to chase away mischievous spirits.!’
Theatre Manager, Roseanne Sturgeon adds;
‘Expect to see the theatre as you have never seen it before, with atmospheric illusions and hallucinatory special effects transporting you to the other-world.!’
