The Referral Exchange: Clients, Partners & Local Business
About this Event
The Referral Exchange: Clients, Partners & Local Business
Stop handing out 30 business cards to people who will never call. Start meeting partners who can actually send you business.
Most evening mixers in the Tampa Bay area follow the same frustrating script: you walk into a loud bar, listen to awkward elevator pitches, dodge aggressive insurance or MLM recruiters, and leave with a stack of irrelevant business cards.
Hosted by Blackmon Business Network at the La Salle Event Room, The Referral Exchange is an engineered B2B working session designed for independent business owners, commercial operators, trade contractors, and licensed professionals who value their time.
We do not ask: "What do you do?"
We ask: "Who do you need to meet, and who can you introduce?"
THE EXCHANGE FLOOR PROTOCOL
The entire evening runs on an active, four-part matchmaking framework:
1. The Intent Badge Station (Arrival)
Every guest wears an intentional objective badge so conversations start with purpose:
- FIND CLIENTS: Service providers and contractors actively expanding customer volume.
- FIND PARTNERS: Businesses seeking cross-referral alliances (e.g., CPA + Estate Attorney; Roofer + Solar Installer).
- FIND VENDORS: Operators seeking trusted local subcontractors, marketing partners, or technical talent.
- GIVE REFERRALS: Established leaders looking to exchange reciprocal introductions.
2. The Physical Referral Board (Vetted Connections)
At the center of the room stands the double-sided Referral Board. Attendees post structured index cards under two live feeds:
- Side A: "Who I Am Actively Seeking" (e.g., "Looking for commercial property managers with 20+ units").
- Side B: "Who I Can Open Doors To" (e.g., "Can connect you to local restaurant owners and franchise operators").
Guests cross-reference the board during breaks to request direct facilitator introductions.
3. Three Structured Table Rotations
No standing in corners. Attendees are seated at 8 curated tables (5–6 professionals per table). Every attendee has an uninterrupted 2-minute spotlight:
- Round 1 (Discovery): Define your core service and the exact profile of your dream client.
- Round 2 (Strategic Complements): Move to a new table to discover cross-promotional partners.
- Round 3 (Targeted Ask): Target specific contacts, introductions, or vendors from the Referral Board.
4. The Zero-Pitch Standard (What Stays Outside)
Ask First, Pitch Second: Attendees who launch into unsolicited product demos or mass-distribute flyers on tables will be excused.
Strict Anti-MLM / No Financial Scheme Policy: Network marketing, multi-level sales recruiters, and speculative crypto/investment offerings are strictly barred.
Opt-In Directory Only: Phone numbers and email addresses are only shared if both parties mutually opt-in on their checkout forms.
