The final REEL Underground show of 2025 is a screening of the documentary about Levon Helm “Ain’t In It For My Health”. This 2010 documentary presents an intimate portrait of Levon Helm, drummer and vocalist for The Band, one of the most influential and revered rock groups of the 60s and 70s. Shot over multiple years in the 2000s, the film captures Levon as he resumes his career after recovering from throat cancer, creates his comeback album, and plays “midnight ramble” concerts at his farm in Woodstock, NY. The film recounts The Band’s rise to fame and the dissolution of the group’s brotherhood amid drugs and royalty clashes. But the focus of the documentary is clearly on Levon in the present, and the film is truly a celebration of his life, legacy, and the joy that he takes in creating and playing music. Come see why, more than a decade after his death, Levon Helm remains one of the most beloved figures in rock music. NOTE: There are a few tables and bar stools available at the Montrose Saloon, but attendees of the previous shows have filled those up early. So for your comfort and enjoyment YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING FOLDING OR CAMPING CHAIRS to use during the film screening, but chairs need to be packed up and removed from the Saloon immediately after the film for the music set. (You can stash them outside on the patio during the music set)
