The Ransom of Red Chief

Based on O'Henry's humorous short-story about Bill and Sam, two small-time crooks, who make the mistake of kidnapping a brat known as "Red." Brought up by a skinflint uncle and mean housekeeper, Red gladly leaves with the two strangers. The kidnappers are delighted but it is their last moment of peace. Red—or Red Chief, as he prefers to be called—now has two full-time playmates and keeps them hopping. While Sam sets about collecting the ransom, Bill is tasked with entertaining Red Chief. He soon discovers, however, that it's tiring (and painful) work. To make matters even worse, Red's uncle holds out for a ransom of his own. In classic O. Henry style, there's a surprise ending to this delightful full-length family comedy.
