Her story, brought to life in *The Queen of the Painted Sisterhood* by Salida actress Aggie Alvez, the play is a riveting exploration of power, resilience, and the complexities of life in the Old West. With *The Queen of the Painted Sisterhood*, playwright Mike Broemmel turns his attention to the world of brothels and bordellos, shedding light on the often-overlooked women who shaped the cultural and economic landscape of the Wild West.

Known for her sharp wit, impeccable style, and unyielding determination, Silks operated some of the most luxurious brothels in the region, catering to wealthy clients and earning a reputation as a shrewd entrepreneur. Her establishments were not just places of ill repute; they were symbols of her ambition and her ability to thrive in a male-dominated world.
