About this Event
Presented by Museums of History NSW and the State Library of NSW, this seminar day will equip students with the tools, advice and confidence to embark on their major project!
This year for the first time, the History Extension Project Seminar Day will be delivered as a hybrid event. Students have the option to attend the full day program in person, or half a day online (morning sessions only). Whether attending in person or virtually, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with museum, library and history professionals, History Extension experts, and former History Extension students.
Highlights of this year’s seminar included a Q&A with award-winning journalist, author and history enthusiast Marc Fennell, and a chance to learn all the tips and tricks from high-performing History Extension students from recent years. Students attending the program in person can also attend a series of afternoon workshops designed to spark curiosity and allow students to speak with experts and network with their peers. All attendees will receive access to a suite of online content, including research tips and presentations from previous years.
Please decide how you will attend this event before registration, as we are unable to swap booked tickets due to capacity limitations. To avoid disappointment, we recommend that you book early.
Please read through the booking instructions below before registering for this event.

Attending Online
Online attendees will join a half-day morning session via Zoom and receive access to a suite of online content, including research tips and presentations from previous years.
- Each attendee must purchase an individual ticket at the time of booking as they will be sent a unique link to join the Zoom one business day before the event. Links are valid for one person to use on one device only, and sharing this link may result in losing your place.
- If booking tickets for several attendees (e.g. a class of students), you will be asked to include the name and email address for each attendee in the booking form. Please ensure this information is accurate as the unique link to join the seminar will be sent to each email address provided here.
- Since attendees will participate in the seminar using the Zoom Q&A function, it is best for attendees to join the event individually on their own devices. For information on participating in a Zoom webinar: Joining and participating in Zoom Webinars
Attending In Person
Onsite attendees will participate in the morning program of keynote speakers and panellists, before heading to afternoon workshops at one of the following: the State Library of NSW, The Mint, the Hyde Park Barracks or the Justice & Police Museum.
- Attendees will remain at their chosen location for all afternoon workshops. Those doing workshops at the State Library of NSW must choose from multiple sessions at the time of booking.
- Schools may allow students to attend different locations for workshops so long as each group is accompanied by an adult supervisor. Supervising teachers and adults must each hold a Teacher ticket due to limited capacity at our venues.
- Due to limited venue capacity, we are unable to change an attendee’s choice of workshop after registration. Please choose carefully from our workshop options before booking.
- If a workshop option does not appear during registration, this venue has reached capacity and is unavailable.
Information for schools
- Tickets must be purchased via credit card (or office credit card) at the time of booking. You will automatically receive a tax invoice in your confirmation email after purchase.
