"I've read the research, but I worry that Explicit Direct Instruction will be boring. And...what does it look like when it's done well? Anyone?"
If you feel that way you’re not alone! One of the reasons teachers are reluctant to use EDI is because they don’t have a clear picture of what it should look like and how they could make it sing.
In this workshop we’ll translate the research into practice and study videos of real classrooms from both the US and England, observing how EDI can be made dynamic, engaging, fun for students and, most importantly, how it can result in better learning.
In this one day training, we’ll study how to use the Alternating Principle to cause your EDI lessons to be dynamic and engaging and to help students remember the ideas you share. We’ll study how visuals and graphics can be optimized to facilitate learning. And we’ll look at how EDI can be combined with Retrieval Practice to build powerful long-term memory.
