Blue Earth Camerata presents a celebration Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1595) in the 500th year since his birth. Palestrina is considered by many to be the leading example of late Renaissance composers.
In this concert, also featuring the Kansas State University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance's select Madrigal & Motet Ensemble, audiences will be treated to examples of Palestrina's glorious sacred and secular vocal music, culminating in a performance of his Missa Brevis of 1570.
Admission is free with a $10 suggested donation.
Blue Earth Camerata is Manhattan's only semi-professional ensemble dedicated to early music and historically informed performance, lead by Artist Director David Simmons Wood.
And join Blue Earth Camerata 6-8pm on Thursday, April 24 at St. Isidore's for a free two-hour workshop where participants will enjoy singing Renaissance choral music, including music of Palestrina, in a low pressure atmosphere. More details to come!
