𝗙𝗥 — Quel est le lien entre l’actuelle crise de la démocratie et le fait que les sociétés occidentales ont banni le conflit et le débat de la sphère publique? Comment faire pour rendre nos différentes opinions visibles et en débattre? Et comment faire pour que cela ne conduise pas à la polarisation?
𝗡𝗟 — Wat is de link tussen de huidige crisis van de democratie en het feit dat westerse samenlevingen conflict en discussie uit de publieke sfeer bannen? Hoe kunnen we onze verschillende meningen zichtbaar maken en erover in debat gaan? En hoe kunnen we ervoor zorgen dat het niet eindigt in polarisatie?
𝗘𝗡 — What is the link between the current crisis of democracy and the fact that Western societies are banning conflict and discussion from the public sphere? How can we make our different opinions visible and debate them? And how do we make sure it won’t end in polarization?

𝗙𝗥 — The adversaries est une performance-installation participative. Réparti·es en deux groupes, vous êtes amenés au conflit par le jeu. Un troisième groupe, les témoins, suit les débats et donne son avis. Vous avez ainsi l’opportunité de réfléchir au conflit, en tant que composante importante de la démocratie. Ensuite, suivant des instructions, les trois groupes sont conduits à constater l’existence d’un conflit entre eux et à négocier, d’une manière qui leur permet de définir les possibilités et les limites de l’exercice. Ensemble, sur base d’une synthèse des différents points de vue, les groupes créent un nouvel espace d’entente.

𝗡𝗟 — The Adversaries is een participatieve performance-installatie. In twee kleine groepen word je op een speelse manier met elkaar in conflict gebracht. Een derde groep, getuigen, volgt de discussie en geeft haar perspectief op het conflict. Zo krijg je de kans om na te denken over conflict als een belangrijk onderdeel van democratie. Via instructies verken je een bestaand conflict en ga je erover in onderhandeling op een manier die zowel de mogelijkheden als de beperkingen van conflict verkent. Samen probeer je op basis van een synthese van de verschillende standpunten een nieuwe derde ruimte te creëren.

𝗘𝗡 — The Adversaries is a participatory performance installation. Two small groups are brought into conflict with each other in a playful manner. A third group, the witnesses, follows the discussion and shares its perspective on the conflict. This allows the participants to think about conflict as a vital part of democracy. Following different instructions, they explore and negotiate an existing conflict in ways that play up the possibilities and limitations of conflict. Together they try to create a new, third space based on a synthesis of the different points of view.

Faisons de Molenbeek la capitale culturelle de l’Europe !

Van Cinemaximiliaan tot het Kaaitheater, van Recyclart en de Circusschool tot Charleroi Danse, van de Vaartkapoen en Decoratelier tot UP – Circus & Performing Arts en Ultima Vez: ze zijn allemaal van de partij, samen met vele bekende en minder bekende Molenbeekse artiesten en verenigingen. Laten we van Molenbeek de culturele hoofdstad van Europa maken!
𝗘𝗡 — Dance, circus acts, music, theatre, debate, film and plenty of festivities: between 12 and 22 September, every park, square and stage will positively breathe MolenFest.
From Cinemaximiliaan to the Kaaitheater, from Recyclart and the École Cirque to Charleroi Danse, from the Vaartkapoen and Decoratelier to UP – Circus & Performing Arts and Ultima Vez: they will all be there (with bells on), rubbing shoulders with the many well- and lesser-known artists and organisations from Molenbeek. Let’s make Molenbeek the cultural capital of Europe in 2030!
