𝗙𝗥 — La rue constitue l’élément clé de la transition vers une ville plus vivable, saine et inclusive. Tactical Urbanism est un moyen rapide d’activer les rues et d’initier le changement. A Molenbeek, les journées Open Streets sont génératrices de projets de ville positifs et de quartiers inclusifs. Des interventions temporaires activent les rues et les conversations de quartier permettant à leurs habitant·es de faire connaissance. Et dans un quartier autrefois anonyme, là où il n’y en avait pas, des liens se créent et une vie de quartier se met à exister. Le Quartier Maritime est emblématique de cette super-diversité commune à bien des villes d’Europe. Villes où, pour certaines d’entre elles, d’autres formes inspirantes de Tactical Urbanism ont déjà fait leurs preuves.
Après les prises de parole d’une série d'interventions locales et internationales, de jeunes bruxellois·es débattront autour de leur ville. Dans quel Bruxelles les jeunes générations veulent-elles vivre? En y grandissant, que leur a-t-il manqué et qu’ont-elles aimé? Quels sont leurs besoins et leurs rêves? Comment faire pour que cette jeunesse puisse participer à l’élaboration du futur de sa ville et que sa voix soit entendue en matière de politique urbaine? Quelles actions est-il possible de mener rapidement afin de rendre la ville plus accessible et plus inclusive?

Exposition photos "Beautiful people" : le photographe Ivan Put photographie les rues ouvertes depuis des années et son travail montre la belle diversité et la richesse humaine que Molenbeek a à offrir.

𝗡𝗟 — De straat vormt de sleutel in de transitie naar een meer leefbare, gezonde en inclusieve stad. Tactical urbanism is een snelle manier om de straten te activeren en de verandering in te zetten. In eigen stad zijn de Molenbeekse Open Streets gangmakers van positieve stadsprojecten en inclusieve buurten. De straten worden geactiveerd in combinatie met fysieke (tijdelijke) interventies en buurtgesprekken. Buurtbewoners maken kennis met elkaar. De opengestelde straten worden plekken van ontmoeting, gemeenschapsopbouw en culturele uitwisseling. In de voorheen anonieme buurt worden banden gesmeed en ontstaat een buurtleven dat er voordien niet was. De Maritiemwijk kan symbool staan voor de hedendaagse superdiversiteit die in veel Europese steden terug te vinden is. In andere (Europese) steden zijn andere inspirerende voorbeelden van tactical urbanism te vinden.
Voorafgegaan door een aantal inspirerende lokale en internationale sprekers, gaan Brusselse jongeren in debat over de toekomst van de stad. In wat voor stad willen ze wonen, wat komen ze tekort en wat vinden ze net heel fijn aan opgroeien in de stad? Wat zijn hun noden en dromen? Hoe kunnen jongeren mee de (toekomst van de) stad bepalen en hoe kan hun stem vertaald worden naar het beleid? Welke snelle interventies zijn mogelijk om de stad toegankelijker en inclusiever te maken?

𝗘𝗡 — The street is key in the transition to a more livable, healthy and inclusive city. Tactical urbanism is a quick way to activate streets and initiate change. In their own city, the Molenbeek project Open Streets sets the pace by supporting positive city projects and inclusive neighborhoods. Streets are brought to life with the help of physical (temporary) interventions and neighborhood conversations, where people get to know each other. In this way, the streets are opened up and become places of meeting, community building and cultural exchange. In the previously anonymous neighborhood, new bonds are forged and a community life emerges that was not there before. The Quartier Maritime is emblematic of the super-diversity gleaned in many European cities today. Other inspiring examples of tactical urbanism can be found in other (European) cities.

Preceded by an inspiring roster of local and international speakers, young people from Brussels enter into a debate about the future of the city. What kind of city do they want to live in, what do they lack and what do they like about growing up in the city? What are their needs and dreams? How can young people help determine the (future of the) city and how can their voices be translated into policy? What quick interventions are possible to make the city more accessible and inclusive?
