THE PORTER’S MUSIC THEATRE EXPERIMENTWe’re seeking four short pieces of new ‘music theatre’ writing for an upcoming scratch night. This could be from a longer piece already in development or something brand new as a response to this post. Anything that would benefit from getting up on its feet in front of an audience.
The rules are simple:
One Stage. One Scene. One Song (at least). One instrument.
The subject? Anything. The music? Anything—as long as it’s original.
Chosen applicants will have a 15 minute performance slot at a scratch night at Porter’s on June 27th. We will provide a rehearsal space and a 2 hour rehearsal slot on the day. We will provide a choice of piano, a guitar amp, or the facility to play back recorded music (for rehearsals AND performance).
We’re not looking for fully-formed mini-musicals with a neat beginning, middle, and end. Instead, we want a glimpse of an idea—a flavour of a story told through, or assisted by, music and song that might one day grow into something bigger.
