The Poetry Surgery - Wallsend

A friendly and accessible way to fine-tune your poetry skills!

The Poetry Surgery combines literary criticism with creative writing. I believe that to write good poetry, you have to be able to read poetry well and widely!

This monthly workshop will introduce you to a load of new way of writing and reading poetry.
The sessions are low pressure and friendly; if you want to sit quietly and listen, that's fine. If you want to share your work, great!

We start the session by close reading an existing and celebrated poem, working on our analytic (overthinking) skills. We follow that with some prompts based on the techniques and ideas we unearthed from the first poem.

I am operating a pay what you can system, to cover operational costs, but if you can't afford anything at all (donations are possible from £1) - please let me know if you need a free space in order to attend.
