The Planets – Gustav Holst | Jubilee Concert 🎉
To celebrate this milestone, the orchestra will perform The Planets by Gustav Holst, one of the most spectacular works in the orchestral repertoire. Written between 1914 and 1917, the seven-movement suite portrays the astrological character of each planet, from the brooding energy of Mars to the mysterious, ethereal sounds of Neptune. The work calls for a very large symphonic orchestra with expanded brass, woodwind and percussion sections, creating a rich and powerful orchestral landscape. For this special anniversary concert, we are also delighted to be joined by the Cantus Firmus Choir, whose celestial voices will bring the magical final movement to life, making this a fitting celebration of thirty years of music-making. 🎶
