The town of Sedan on the Murray Flats was created in 1870 as a private town and as such holds an interesting place in the South Australian narrative. Johann Wilhelm Pfeiffer who established the town was the only German to do so. He helped many of the early businesspeople establish and with his support the town flourished. Within 15 years it had grown to be the heart of this farming area 30 kms to the east of the Barossa.
Author of the latest Sedan history book, Susan Grieger, will tell us of its rich history as a town with a strong Lutheran Germanic nature. She will explore the highs & lows of its past, what has shaped its character and what remains today.
