The Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

Welcome to The Philharmonic Youth Orchestra!

The Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO), in partnership with the Eastman Community Music School, is the leading youth orchestra in the Greater Rochester area. Under the direction of RPO Assistant Conductor Jherrard Hardeman, RPYO offers students in grades 8-12 the opportunity to rehearse and perform challenging music, emphasizing artistic growth and teamwork.

RPYO members receive weekly rehearsals, coaching by RPO musicians, and perform in top local venues, including an annual Side-by-Side Concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Since its founding in 1970, the program has helped over 2,100 students, many of whom have gone on to perform in professional ensembles, become music educators, or pursue careers in music-related fields. RPYO fosters a strong community of young musicians and provides them with experiences that inspire lifelong love and appreciation for music.
