Instructor - Salvatore Mancini
Salvatore Mancini is a custom fabricator producing custom furniture and interior designs. He works primarily in wood using traditional techniques as well as digital fabrication. He got his start creating sets for theater productions and was inspired to pursue woodworking after restoring a wooden view camera.
Class Description
This class is not only an introduction to fine woodworking furniture building but also an opportunity to learn almost every tool in the woodshop.
For anyone interested in building their own furniture, this class will teach you everything you need to get started. We will start from rough lumber Cherry board and through the class you will learn to create a Shaker-style side table with hand turned legs. Students will be shown how to use a drawing plan to layout your project including wood grain consideration and joinery. In this class we will use virtually all the tools in the woodshop from Chisel to Tablesaw, Router, Band saw, Joiner, Planer, Wood Lathe, mortiser and Miter saw. In addition, the student will learn some hand tool woodworking skills.
You will learn the following topics during the course of the class: • Rough lumber to dimensional stock • Turned table legs • Full assembly and glue-up • Mortise-Tenon.
This class includes Tool Testing on the Table saw, Jointer, Planer, Wood Lathe, Miter saw, Sanders, Drill Press, Horizontal Boring Machine(mortiser), and Band Saws.
Material Fee
The materials fee for this class is $200. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in cash or through Venmo.

Class Goals
Learn fine woodworking furniture building techniques and skills that can be used for any project size.
Learn hand tools and power tools including Chisel to Tablesaw, Router, Band saw, Joiner, Planer, and Miter saw.
This is a class that will take the student from layout to a finish fine furniture Cherry Side Table with turned legs.
Also, you will learn how to sand-assemble and apply oil / waterbased finish to guide you through the finishing process, (finishing intended to be completed at home).

Students Should Bring
Something to take notes with. Students should plan to bring their own Hearing Protective Equipment; protective eyewear is available for those who do not have their own.
Prerequisites
All students must be 16 years old or older. Students under 18 years old must be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult.
