The shadows stir, the organ thunders, and the Phantom returns. This October, the New York Theatre Organ Society (NYTOS) presents the 100th anniversary of Lon Chaney’s The Phantom of the Opera (1925) with live accompaniment by acclaimed organist David Kopp on the mighty Ben Hall Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. The centennial screening takes place Thursday, October 16, at 7:00 PM inside the historic Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, NY, itself a 102-year-old movie palace.
“The Phantom of the Opera has haunted audiences for a century, and hearing it with live theatre organ makes the experience unforgettable,” said Nick Myers, Chair of NYTOS. “When the chandelier crashes and the Wurlitzer roars, you don’t just watch the film, you feel it.”
This once-in-a-lifetime screening is the ultimate way to step into Halloween: a horror classic on the big screen, brought to life with the same chills and thrills audiences experienced in 1925.
