Peter Bruntnell and Danny George Wilson are getting together for a special double bill celebrating Peter’s birthday at The Sound Lounge on Saturday 31st January.Peter Bruntnell is a hugely respected singer-songwriter who's album, Normal For Bridgewater, is regarded as a classic among UK Americana releases. His albums receive consistent 5-star reviews and his shows are adored by the discerning audience members who are left enthralled by the magic and musicianship that he brings to every stage.
His latest album, Houdini & The Sucker Punch was described as "an album which harks back to the glory of Normal For Bridgewater" by Americana UK.
Further praise for Bruntnell comes from the likes of musician and author Willy Vlautin (The Delines, Richmond Fontaine), who frequently states that “Peter Bruntnell is my favourite singer in the world”, with Jay Farrar (Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo) and Peter Buck (REM) also amongst his fans. Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards, when planning her first album, gave her producer Normal For Bridgwater and asked him to “make it sound like this”.
This show will see Peter and his band deliver a barnstorming set of fan favourites as well as one or two well chosen covers.
Danny George Wilson (Grand Drive, Danny & The Champions Of The World, Bennett Wilson Poole) has become, along with Peter, a central figure in shaping the UK’s modern Americana landscape.
Nominated for Best Live Act at the 2025 UK Americana Awards with Danny & The Champions Of The World and headlining many festival stages throughout the UK and Europe, Danny has gained a legion of followers who will travel great distances to see him play.
His latest album with The Champs, You Are Not a Stranger Here was described as “a beautiful record” by Bob Harris (Radio 2) and as “an absolutely fantastic album – a contender for Record Of The Year” by Robert Elms (BBC Radio London)
Danny will be performing a solo set of classic songs from his extensive back catalogue.
