The next chapter is on the horizon — and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever!
Same passion, fresh new space 😮
We are thrilled to announce that The Great Sankey Artisan Market will be returning from Saturday, September 20th — at a brand new location!… under a new name The Penketh & Great Sankey Artisan Market
Launched 5 years ago by Independent Street in collaboration with Great Sankey Parish Council, the market quickly became a firm fixture in the local calendar. Born in the post-Covid period, it brought together residents, visitors, and makers, building a strong community spirit and a loyal following.
After five wonderful years, we’re excited to begin Part 2 of our journey!
From September, our market will be moving just down the road to The Penketh & Great Sankey Con Club, Meeting Lane WA5 2BG.
We’re incredibly grateful to Sharon and her team for welcoming us with such enthusiasm and support as we take this next step. The new venue offers a fantastic event space, along with much-needed indoor areas—something that will be especially valuable as we head into the winter months.
This exciting new chapter will kick off with a massive comeback celebration featuring:
🛍️ Over 50 artisan stalls – including many favourites and returning award-winning traders
🎵 Live music throughout the day by Olly Flavell
🎨 Free kids’ craft tables provided by Create Yourself
🏖️ Sand Art Workshop by Amanda
🎉 A family show at 2pm by Kids Love 2 Party
Lisa Cowley, founder of Independent Street, said:
“The Great Sankey Artisan Market holds such a special place in our hearts. It was one of the first events we launched, and over 5 years we’ve built up an incredibly loyal following. We believe our new site at the Con Club will breathe fresh life into the event. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our comeback party in September!”

For our relaunch we have BIG things planned! �All of our regular traders are set to return, plus many of the old historic Sankey stalls are returning too!
Plus there will be live music, a FREE kid’s craft table by Create Yourself and a Sand Art Table. We really are pulling out all the stops as we will be joined by the fabulous Kids Love 2 Party providing a free family show from 2pm.
This is one re-launch party you won’t want to miss!
