🍲 Cooking for a Cause 🍲
The fires are being lit once again as the Parkview Potjiekos Competition returns to George Hay Park on Sunday, 26 July 2026 for a full day of food, music, family fun and proudly South African community spirit.
More than just a cooking competition, this much-loved annual event brings people together around one of South Africa’s favourite traditions, all while raising funds for Nicarela’s charitable causes.
Whether you’re entering a team or simply joining us for the day, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

🏆 FOR THE COMPETING TEAMS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Think you have the ultimate potjie recipe?
Teams of up to 4 people will battle it out for bragging rights, fantastic prizes and, of course, the title of Ultimate Potjiekos Champion 2026.
Teams arrive from as early as sunrise to begin setting up their stands, preparing ingredients, lighting fires and bringing their team spirit to life in hopes of achieving culinary glory!
Each team:
🔥 Creates a team name
🎪 Chooses a theme
🍲 Cooks a potjie of their choice
✨ Decorates their stand for gees & judging
Prizes will be awarded for:
🏆 Top 3 Potjies
🎨 Best Stand Décor
🎉 Gees Award
Our judging panel will include a select group of local personalities and celebrity guests.
🔥 Coals are provided by the Nicarela event.
⚠️ Entry spots are limited, so early applications are strongly encouraged.

🎶 FOR THE GUESTS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Gates open at 09:30 and entry to the event is FREE.
Spend the day walking between the different potjie stands, meeting the teams, soaking up the atmosphere and deciding which delicious potjie to try.
Guests can purchase food tickets for either:
🍲 Full portions
🍲 Half portions
Each portion includes a FREE side of pap or rice.
There’ll also be:
🍻 Beer tent & refreshments
🎶 Live music throughout the day
🎤 Live entertainment by Steve Walls
🎈 Jumping castles for the kids
🍴 Food stalls & vendors
☕ Coffees, pancakes, breads, ribs & more tasty treats to be announced
