THE PANDAN SALE: OUR VERY OWN 7-ELEVEN
Our annual 11.11 warehouse sale is back, and this year it has gone pandan. Why pandan? Because I love it, practically everyone else loves it, and we even have a pandan print. That seemed like a perfectly good reason to me.
If, like me, you have been joining in with 11.11 without knowing quite where it came from, here is a little background. It began in China as Singles’ Day, a celebration of being single, before Alibaba turned it into a shopping festival in 2009. Buying yourself a present was rather the point, which is a tradition I can happily get behind.
We have been holding our own version for about five or six years now, going back to just before lockdown, if my memory serves me correctly. This year, we are starting on the 7th and finishing on the 11th, making it our very own 7-Eleven. Although you are considerably more likely to leave with a tablecloth than a Slurpee.
This is your annual chance to find a beautiful nala dress, a bag or something lovely for your table at warehouse sale prices. Come with a wish list, or come and see what catches your eye. I cannot promise those will turn out to be the same things.
We open this Saturday at 9am, with five whole days to find your favourites. Everyone loves pandan, everyone loves a good sale, and I am hoping there is a little nala love in there too.
