About this Event
Join us to address acute disasters and chronic hazards, consider pathways to adapt to the changing climate, and share ideas, lessons learned, and resources. We invite you to share perspectives from across the Pacific Islands region and beyond, to foster coalitions, mobilize resources, and build resilient communities. Together, we can develop local solutions that utilize the wisdom of the past, the innovation of today, and provide greater security for future generations.
Recent disasters like the wildfires in Hawaiʻi and Typhoon Mawar in the Marianas demonstrate how climate change and extreme weather events create increasing challenges to the resiliency of Pacific Islands. Addressing not only acute disasters but also chronic hazards like erosion and invasive species requires collaboration among diverse Pacific Island perspectives through initiatives like PRiMO. By fostering coalitions and creating localized solutions, we can effectively mobilize resources and build resilience to combat these pressing environmental and socio-economic issues.
The PRiMO ʻOhana will convene in March 2025 to share resources, knowledge, and lessons learned in topical areas including: Pre-disaster Recovery Planning and Preparedness, Housing and Infrastructure Resilience, Natural and Cultural Resources, Community Resilience, and Innovations in Resilience. Together, we can develop local solutions that utilize the wisdom of the past, the innovation of today, and provide greater security for future generations.
