Rowing
Most of the rowing will be taking place in coxed Quadruple (4x+) and Octuple (8x+) Sculls which involves 2 oars. There will also be the opportunity to try coxing these boats which involves steering the boat and instructing the crew. As the week progresses there may be opportunity for people to try Single (1x) and Double (2x) Sculls, but this will be at the discretion of the coaches and weather conditions.
Kit
General sports clothing will be fine to wear in a boat (such as t-shirts, shorts/tracksuit bottoms/leggings, trainers). Most rowing boats have shoes in the boat so you will just need shoes to wear when off the water. If you are wearing jumpers, please avoid hoodies or anything too baggy as this will likely get caught when trying to row the oars (mid-layers are usually good to wear in the boat).
Please ensure you bring a spare change of clothes, including a towel, each day. Most of the rowing will be in crew boats with a low chance of capsizing but there may be the possibility to go into smaller boats (higher capsize chance) later in the week.
Hats, sunglasses and sun cream are advised for hot weather. If rain is forecast then please bring a waterproof coat/jacket. There will be space for you to store your kit at the boathouse.
Food & Drink
Please bring a packed lunch (no nuts), drinks AND snacks for the day. Water bottles are essential for in the boat, particularly if the weather is hot. You will be able to refill bottles with water on site.
