A northern mining village faces tensions upon the arrival of a group of Syrian refugees in this moving film from director Ken Loach.

A pub landlord in a previously thriving mining community struggles to hold onto his pub. Meanwhile, tensions rise in the town when Syrian refugees are placed in the empty houses in the community.
After its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or, the film was nominated for Outstanding British Film at the 77th British Academy Film Awards.

Our North on Screen series is a celebration of films set in the north and made by northern filmmaking talent.
Screenings are open to the public and are free, though cinemagoers are encouraged to donate to support future screenings.
This screening is brought to you by Film Hub North as part of the Spotlight Sunderland project which aims to develop and build film opportunities for audiences in the City.
