The New Playwrights Workshop at Planet Ant presents “HATTIE”

An original one-act play written by Krystle Dellihue and directed by Lynch Travis

It’s February 29, 1940, the day of the 12th annual Academy Awards. Hattie McDaniel is preparing for the biggest moment of her life with her publicist and confidant, Ruby. Adorned in diamonds and a stunning turquoise gown, Hattie is ready for her life-changing night. Her friend F.P. Yober arrives to escort her to the ceremony, but the day takes an unexpected turn when her agent, William Meiklejohn, reveals that Hattie is not allowed to sit with her cast at the event. Hattie must decide whether making history is worth the personal sacrifice of not having a seat at the table. Her decision that night impacted future generations, showing them that dreams can come true and that they, too, can have a seat at the table.
