The Nature of Art
August 13, Meg Wolitzer & Charlie Panek on Found Sound
Meg Wolitzer sold her first novel, Sleepwalking, when she was a senior in college. Her subsequent novels include The Female Persuasion, The Interestings, and The Wife, among many others. In addition to Found Sound (co-written with Charlie Panek), her novels for middle-grade readers include To Night Owl from Dogfish (co-written with Holly Goldberg Sloan), and The Fingertips of Duncan Dorfman. She has also published the YA novel Belzhar, and the picture book Millions of Maxes (illustrated by Micah Player).
Charlie Panek has been crafting electronic music since he was young, using field recordings to turn next-to-nothing into something with restorative and creative problem solving. He received a BA in music from Bard College, and an MA in audio technology from American University, and he works as a music and audio producer and sound editor. Panek recognizes that audio is crucial to successful storytelling across various mediums. Found Sound is his first novel.
