ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Music is a timeless source of collective memory and a steadfast companion of storytelling. Join electroacoustic trio The Myriad Project (Emily Brownlee, oboe; Donald Schweikert, bassoon; Daniel Fecteau, looping violin) for a program that explores these themes through the lens of nostalgia, discovery, and adventure. Enjoy the vibrant soundscapes created by this unique combination of double reeds, electric violin, and live looping. This program will feature original music that was commissioned, written, or arranged by the ensemble.
ABOUT :
The Myriad Project challenges the norms of the traditionally classical instruments that they play. They place a strong emphasis on collaboration and have worked with composers, artists, and educators to build a dynamic repertoire unique to the “Myriad” concert experience.
The Myriad Project is a genre-defying electro-acoustic chamber ensemble based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their unique sound is characterized by colorful woodwind lines overtop complex textures created by the violin and loop station. That contrast is at the heart of Myriad’s sonic appeal – emotional melodies paired with rhythmic groove allow the group to transport listeners into immersive sound worlds. Their music is evocative of movie soundtracks and fantasy game scores, centering whimsy and storytelling in their concert experiences.
The Myriad Project began as the result of close friendship and a shared excitement for new music. All three members of the ensemble began graduate studies at the University of Michigan together and quickly became friends, first coming together in February 2024 to read a piece Daniel wrote for the trio.
In their first two seasons together, The Myriad Project has been involved in the creation of ten brand-new works for their ensemble. They have performed their music throughout the Midwest, including notable Ann Arbor venues such as The Ark and Kerrytown Concert House. They also performed at the 2025 International Double Reed Society conference in Indianapolis and received the Michigan Prize and honorable mention at the 2025 Briggs Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble’s most recent project has been recording three pieces for their first album, set to release in spring/summer 2026.
