Join us for The Mission Golf Tournament—a day of golf in support of this year’s local community programs. Come out, play your round, and help make a difference close to home.
Proceeds to benefit this year’s chosen mission projects at North Presbyterian Church: Darkhorse Lodge, a peaceful retreat for combat veterans in Tennessee and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park a 155-acre park outside of Neillsville, WI.
Darkhorse Lodge is a nonprofit retreat in rural Tennessee created in memory of LCpl. Alec Catherwood, a United States Marine who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, known as the “Darkhorse” Battalion. Alec was known for his love of the outdoors, strong sense of service, and deep commitment to his fellow Marines. Following his death at just 19 years old, his parents transformed their grief into a mission to support combat veterans by creating a peaceful place where they can rest, reconnect, fish, and heal alongside others who understand the challenges of military service. Alec was also the nephew of Paul and Nancy Ernst, whose continued support helps honor his legacy and the mission behind the lodge.
The Highground Veterans Memorial Park, located outside of Neillsville, Wisconsin, is a 155-acre memorial and healing space dedicated to honoring veterans, educating visitors, and supporting military families. Originally founded as a Vietnam Veterans memorial, it has grown into one of the nation’s most unique veteran memorial parks, featuring tributes to multiple wars and military groups, museums, walking trails, and spaces for reflection and community gatherings. Created largely through grassroots volunteer efforts, The Highground serves as both a place of remembrance for those who served and a source of healing for veterans and their families.
