Info: This feast, dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos, honors the Mother of God, especially since there is no other feast bearing her name immediately after Easter. In some regions, the holiday is known as the Feast of the Theotokos of Balaklija.​
According to tradition, because the Theotokos tended to Jesus' wounds, on this day, people visit local springs, wash their faces and eyes, or pour water from the springs over themselves three times. Consequently, this feast is often celebrated in churches located near springs.​
Fortunately, St. Dimitrija Solunski Orthodox Church in Markham is the only Macedonian church in Toronto with a natural water spring. On this sacred day, believers from various churches in Toronto come to receive communion at our church.​
